Mr. Bock Doppelina

Brewer's Notes

Doppelbock is an incredibly tasty style of beer – all on its own. It also ages very well, getting more raisiny, dark fruit, and toffee character over time. We’ve simply combined this natural maturation process with used bourbon barrels to add another layer of awesome. These barrels have already been used to age beer, so their contribution is milder than a distillery-fresh barrel. Instead, the wood imparts subtle sweetness and balance that helps round out the rich German lager. During the maturation time, micro-oxidation through the pores of the wood creates a flavor and aroma like honey graham crackers or Belgian waffles. Very unique and very good – while it lasts.

Behind The Name

Fans of the 90s rap/funk/hip-hop genre might get the reference that we’re making in the name Mr. Bock Doppelina. (Del the Funkee Homosapien, a famous Bay Area rapper and his hit song Mistadobalina). But what most folks don’t know is that the intro was sampled from a Monkee’s song called “Zilch” in the 60s. Whatever you listen to, it’ll probably pair really well with this beer.
