Brewer's Notes

Stormquake is a Belgian Golden Ale, with a little Seismic twist. The base ingredient is Admiral Pilsner malt which is grown and malted here in California. For textural complexity and mouthfeel, unmalted barley flakes are added in the mash. Non-GMO dextrose sugar is added during fermentation. When added at just the right time, the dextrose creates fruitiness, dryness, and a touch of alcohol warmth which is characteristic of this awesome style. The addition of Saphir hops, while subtle, creates a charming spiciness to balance the palate. The yeast combines all these elements, integrating them into a malty, fruity, spicy, and wonderfully aromatic beer.

Behind The Name

A stormquake is a newly discovered phenomenon that occurs when a hurricane creates immensely strong winds that generate low-magnitude and subtle earthquakes on the ocean floor. Similar to a stormquake, this beer while subtle and delicate on the palette, still packs a big punch of fruity Belgian yeast character. Be warned- this beer is very approachable and light, but at an ABV of 8.8%, can sneak up on you quickly if you do not prepare yourself for the coming storm!
